Awesome Cutlery is named after Captain Awesomeness and Cutlery Boy, two wannabe superheroes who appear in sketches on the Awesome Cutlery albums, as well as in their live shows.
In real life, Awesome Cutlery is Gareth Loh and Dan Adams. They are both dads, church pastors and dubiously-skilled superheroes. The Awesome Cutlery songs began life as songs they wrote to sing with their children and in kids’ ministry. Since then they have released two albums and seen their songs used all over the world.
Awesome Cutlery exists to help families worship Jesus together. Their songs are designed to be sung by all ages, and this specially-selected catalogue from their two albums has been put together for use in churches. The songs cover a host of topics, including the church, prayer, God’s word, the great commission, God’s eternality, and Jesus’ return, all in a way that that everyone can sing and enjoy.
The free track for June is an African style track called Mimina by Grand Rapids worship leader and song writer Tausi Zaina.
Tausi’s song, Mimina, has become a favourite at Kentwood Community Church, where she is a worship leader. Kentwood Community is home to a multicultural congregation from all over the world, and Mimina’s African style ministers across cultural boundaries.
Mimina translates as ‘sprinkle’, and ‘shukisha’ means ‘pour out’. Baba is an affectionate term for ‘Father” in Swahili. The song’s catchy chorus just means “Father, sprinkle Your presence, pour down Your blessings”.

Free Download from the new Shawn Thomas Album – before it’s released!
Worship leader and CCM artist Shawn Thomas will be releasing his new album “Born Again Again” on May 23rd, but you can listen to and even download one of the songs for free right here on Worship Backing Band before anyone else!
The free download is for an upbeat contemporary style song called “You Are My God (Strong Tower).” The lyrics are based on scriptures from Psalm 18:2-3, Proverbs 18:10 and Romans 11:36. (“The name of the Lord is a Strong Tower…”)

The free track for March, Anchor of My Soul, is by Calvary Chapel worship leader Kevin McCarthy. Kevin says “I love music. I love attitude. I love a good hook. But mostly I’ve come to find the meaning of ALL of it, through a love for God and His Son Jesus Christ.”
Anchor of My Soul is the title track from his album of songs designed to point others to the heart of God through songs that bless and encourage those who sing and hear them.
It was inspired by three passages: Isaiah 43 where God promises to be with us despite walking through rivers or fire, Daniel’s protection from the Fiery Furnace and Hebrews 6 which describes our hope as an anchor of the soul that is sure and steadfast.
